Creativity is a gift from God and students at Maplewood Academy are encouraged to develop their artistic and expressive skills through art. Art allows students to express themselves and develops new ways of thinking that can be applied in all academics. Art classes expose students to a wide variety of art mediums and techniques so they can be successful. Students learn how art has played a major role throughout history as has architecture and music. They also learn how their art skills can carry over into many different careers. Through art, students have the opportunity to observe and explore amazing design details in nature and in the world around us that point us back to our amazing Creator.
“The true purpose of arts education is not necessarily to create more professional artists or musicians. It is to create more complete human beings who are critical thinkers, who have curious minds, who can live productive lives.” -Unknown
“Art is unquestionably one of the purist and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colors flowers, so does art color life.” -John Lubbock
