Music, one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind, is invaluable to human culture. It is one of the ways we can praise God. It allows people to connect with each other and with themselves and discover deeper meanings of human emotions and interactions.
The Music classes at MWA give students opportunities to grow emotionally, mentally, and physically while also providing a support system of peers. Music Education provides necessary life skills such as self-discipline, self-expression, responsibility, patience, and teamwork. Our goal is to instill a love of music that will carry on for the rest of students’ lives.
At MWA, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of music groups including the Concert Choir, Choraliers (a special select choir), Bell Choir, and Instrumental music.
“Education in music is most sovereign because more than anything else rhythm and harmony find their way to the innermost soul and take strongest hold upon it.” -Plato
“Music has a power of forming the character, and should therefore be introduced into the education of the young.” -Aristotle
“Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel. If we are to hope for a society of culturally liberated people, music must be a vital part of our children’s education.” -Yo-Yo Ma
