On April 4 – 6, Maplewood Academy will be hosting an annual Elementary Choral Festival on the Hutchinson Campus. Participation is open to students in grades 5-8. This festival typically features a choir of 100-120 singers. The purpose of this festival is to give students in your program a chance to participate in an ensemble, while learning more about music, and hopefully inspiring them to become more excited about music and glorifying the Lord through it! Registration information is listed below, along with printable general festival information and music.

MEET THE CONDUCTOR:
Tim Rasmussen was born in Wisconsin to a musical family and was involved in music from a very young age. He studied violin, cello, and voice during his younger years but never dreamed of going into music education. Being involved in choirs and orchestras throughout his high school years convinced him that music was definitely a viable option. In 2013 he earned his Bachelor’s degree in music education with an emphasis in voice from Pacific Union College.
He is currently serving as music director at Grand Rapids Adventist Academy in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he teaches high school chorus and select choir, concert band, middle school bands, middle school choirs, 3-4 handchimes, and K-2 general music.
Tim and His wife Brittany live in Grand Rapids with their two children, Brian and Aalis, and their cat Mona. He enjoys spending time updating their home and woodworking.
